Washington–The Federal Emergency Management Agency yesterday unveiled a new Web site providing an array of tools and information for agents offering flood insurance.
Launched on Jan. 1, the new agents-only sections of the Web site, www.FloodSmart.gov, will provide agents with access to map modernization projects, resource materials to help policyholders through the claims process, and links to education and training programs.
“I am tremendously pleased that the NFIP's FloodSmart campaign will now offer easy access to valuable information for our partners in the insurance industry,” said David Maurstad, acting federal flood insurance administrator.
Mr. Maurstad added, “It is our hope that agents will find this Web site to be a useful resource for providing flood insurance expertise in their communities.”
The site also provides marketing tips and advertising tools, as well as tips and talking points to help agents sell the coverage.
The National Flood Insurance Program provides coverage to homeowners, renters and businessowners in communities that have adopted flood plain management regulations to help limit the potential exposure to future floods.
According to FEMA, approximately 4.7 million flood insurance policies are currently in force, providing nearly $637 billion worth of coverage in approximately 20,000 communities.
