Rick Stein has joined Lakeland-based Lanier Upshaw as co-CEO and co-managing director to help spearhead Lanier Upshaw's Jacksonville and Tampa expansions. He is the former president and CEO of Jacksonville-based Palmer & Cay of Florida, where he is reported to have attempted to acquire Lanier-Upshaw some years ago.

Lanier Upshaw reportedly has set its sights on doubling its $100 million in premiums in five years.

The other half of the co-management executive team is Scott Franklin, former president and chief operating officer of Lanier Upshaw. Jim Franklin, Scott's father, resigned as CEO, but remains as chairman of the board of directors.
