Students are the most likely to have automobile accidents and speeding violations, according to a recent survey by Quality Planning Corp. Their lack of experience and low aversion to risk result in scores that place them well ahead of medical doctors, attorneys, architects, and real estate agents, who round out the top five occupations most likely to be involved in accidents. At the bottom end of the accident-prone table are homemakers, politicians, pilots, firemen, and farmers. Students are 3.5 times more likely to be involved in accidents than farmers.

“The numbers blow big holes in the conventional wisdom about which professions are accident-prone or dangerous drivers,” said Daniel Finnegan, QPC’s president and founder. “Interestingly, it appears that it is educated professionals who are most likely to be involved in accidents. Fortunately for those unlucky enough to be involved in an accident, individuals from two professions which are most helpful after such an incident, doctors and lawyers, are the most likely to be on the scene.”
