The latest national trends in workers' compensation will be under examination at the 60th Annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference, sponsored by the Florida Workers' Compensation Institute and the National Underwriter Co.

The conference pairs up-to-date content with engaging speakers, offering sessions such as Fear Factor: How to Defuse Angry Claimants Before They Explode, with Carl Van, and Ever Want to Ask a Physician a Question, but Were Afraid to? A total of 80 sessions are divided into five tracks, including presentations for claim adjusters, risk managers, and attorneys. Other general sessions will examine workplace safety, chemical exposure, and the ever-present mold. Continuing education credits and certification programs also are included.

Keynote speaker Joseph Giles, of Wausau Insurance, will open the conference with a discussion of such workplace challenges as softening rates, fraud, terrorism, and medical costs. Other highlights include an exhibit hall with more than 280 booths, a golf outing, and a reception featuring musicians Hootie & the Blowfish.

More than 8,000 industry professionals are expected to attend the conference, which is scheduled for Aug. 21-24, at the Orlando World Center Marriott. For more information, or to register, go to www.fwciweb.org.
