The Reinsurance Association of America said it has formed the Institute for Reinsurance Education to offer a core reinsurance curriculum as well as elective courses with sessions in four states.
Beginning next year, the RAA will offer its training and educational courses through the Institute for Reinsurance Education, or iRE. Additionally, the RAA will recognize those individuals who complete the core classes and one elective class.
The iRE includes four core classes, Reinsurance Basics, Reinsurance Contracts, Reinsurance Claims and Reinsurance Finance. The school also offers two elective courses, dealing with catastrophe modeling and current issues.
The Reinsurance Basics class will be offered in Chicago, while the other three core classes will be based in New York. The catastrophe modeling elective will be offered in Tampa, Fla., and the Current Issues Forum will take place in Philadelphia.
The courses will be taught over two-to-four days, and begin with the catastrophe modeling class from February 21 through February 24. Later courses will be offered in May, July, September and October.
