First Advantage Corp., St. Petersburg, Fla., a risk mitigation and business solutions provider, said it has acquired Phoenix Research Corporation, a regionally licensed private investigative agency headquartered in Smithtown, N.Y. Terms were not announced.
First Advantage said that Phoenix Research, and its staff of 12 employees, will be merged into First Advantage Investigative Services with all existing operations under a combined management team headed by Richie Taffet, First Advantage Investigative Services president.
Renee Svec, a First Advantage spokesperson, said that the interest in Phoenix Research was based on the company's Special Investigative Unit (SIU). The unit provides support services, for insurance carriers and self-insured employers in developing, training and complying with state-mandated fraud plans and procedures.
