Cooper Gay Group, a London-based independent reinsurance broker, has formed a U.S. branch, Cooper Gay & Cashman, with former Aon executive vice president Michael W. Cashman.

The company said that the joint venture operation will be based in Minneapolis where Mr. Cashman will serve as its chairman and chief executive officer.

Cooper Gay said that the move is a part of its long-term commitment to the North American treaty reinsurance brokerage market.

Mr. Cashman, a St. Paul native, has experience in the region as he acted as chairman and CEO of E.W. Blanch Co., the Minneapolis-based risk management and global reinsurance broker during his 22 years at the company.
