Steuck Quits As S.Dakota Regulator

South Dakota Insurance Director Gary Steuck, in an email to industry advocates yesterday, announced he is resigning effective July 22 to take a post with an insurance firm.

Mr. Steuck was appointed director of insurance by Gov. Mike Rounds in 2003.

He will assume the position of director at Dacotah Insurance in Mobridge, S.D. on July 25. At Dacotah, Mr. Steuck will oversee the company's 22 agencies, two title insurance companies and will also have responsibilities at Dacotah Bank.

"In his two years as director of insurance, Mr. Steuck accomplished much and is credited with securing enactment of personal and commercial lines rate modernization," said Joe Thesing, state affairs manager for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.
