A memorial scholarship fund has been established in honor of Thomas M. Regan, a former Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. chapter president, who was killed Sept. 11, 2001, in the attack on the World Trade Center, the Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. announced.

The New York Chapter of RIMS has donated $100,000 for the scholarship, which will be presented at the chapter's upcoming breakfast meeting in New York City, June 16.

"We are grateful to the generous members of the New York Chapter, and Chapter President Zakia Campbell and past President Brendan Callahan, for making this scholarship possible," said Jeanne H. Braun, chairwoman of the Spencer Educational Foundation. "In memory of Tom Regan, a much beloved member and past president of the New York Chapter of RIMS, we pledge our commitment to supporting education in the risk management community."

The scholarship will annually award $5,000 to students who meet criteria as undergraduates, studying risk management in a program in either New York, New Jersey or Connecticut.

Mr. Regan was a risk manager for Becton-Dickinson Co. prior to joining Aon Corp. in New York.

The Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. stimulates, promotes and encourages promising undergraduate and graduate students of risk management in fulfilling their educational goals by providing scholarship awards and educational grants.

Established in 1979 to honor the late Robert S. Spencer, the foundation is administered by its board of directors and is affiliated with RIMS in New York.
