NU Online News Service, May 10, 4:22 p.m. EDT–The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. said it has partnered with the Penn Rhoads Institute to offer an online course, "Understanding Corporate Governance in a Sarbanes-Oxley Environment."

The program, RIMS said, examines the foundations of the law governing business relationships, in addition to the responsibilities and liabilities of directors, officers and management.

RIMs added that the course is geared to educating managers and executives about general governance issues in preparation for the new regulatory environment of Sarbanes-Oxley. With its emphasis on enterprise risk management concepts, Sarbanes-Oxley requires a broad-based understanding of governance concepts within public companies, RIMS noted.
