NU Online News Service, May 23, 2:30 p.m. EDT--Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said it has acquired Alternative Market Specialists for undisclosed terms.
Alternative Market Specialists, headquartered in Edina, Minn., is a managing general agent and wholesale insurance broker providing insurance products for independent insurance agents and brokers throughout the United States.
The acquired firm specializes in the production, underwriting and placement of public entity accounts that desire a protected self-insured program. The firm also deals in educational and commercial accounts.
The 13-member organization, Michael Vaughan-Fowler, the firm's founder, and his associates, will continue to operate from their current locations in Atlanta, Nashville, Edina and London. They will be under the direction of Joel Cavaness, President of Risk Placement Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
