"Captive owners and other risk managers will be welcomed to the island by the Premier of Bermuda, the Hon. Alex Scott, members of his government and officers of the insurance regulators, the Bermuda Monetary Authority," Bermuda Insurance Information Office spokesman David Fox.

The conference is one of a number of initiatives from the Insurance Development Council. Tied to the event is the creation of The Bermuda Club, an organization that will be comprised of captive owners, which will work with the captive management community on issues of interest. BIMA will assist with the club's structure and direction, Mr. Fox said.

Bermuda Insurance Management Association President J. Oliver Heyliger noted the club would give members an arena to discuss challenges and opportunities faced by their captive and rent-a-captive insurance companies.

The conference will feature sessions for captive beginners, tax seminars and a session with the Bermuda Government to explain their position on captives.

The Bermuda Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, a chapter of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management, will help establish a special track of education seminars for those interested in health care issues?one of a list of subjects that the Bermuda Captive Conference has planned to educate risk managers about the captive experience.
