Hurricane Charley Loss Could Have Been Worse

Speed and path of storm, better building codes cited in second worst storm everWhile it could have been a lot worse, the estimated $7.4 billion in insured damages wreaked by Hurricane Charley will still rank it as the second most costly hurricane in the nation’s history.

The Insurance Information Institute in New York put the most exact figure on the insured damages, while other modelers chose to stick to a range of $6-to-$10 billion.
