Nodak Mutual Chief To Take New Job In Iowa

NU Online News Service, Oct. 5, 11:24 a.m. EDT?Nodak Mutual, one of the largest property-casualty insurers operating in North Dakota, said its chief executive, Bruce Trost, has resigned his post to take a new job with Farm Bureau Mutual.[@@]

Mr. Trost has been working as the Nodak Mutual CEO since April 2003. Both Nodak Mutual, based in Fargo, N.D., and Farm Bureau Mutual, in West Des Moines, Iowa, are affiliated with Farm Bureau.

While Nodak Mutual is one of the smallest Farm Bureau companies, Farm Bureau Mutual is one of its largest: Nodak has around $80 million in policies written in North Dakota, and Farm Bureau Mutual has some $800 million written in eight states: Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.

At Farm Bureau Mutual, Mr. Trost, 48, is expected to become the head of its property-casualty division.

Nodak Mutual said Mr. Trost will serve in a consulting role for one year and that a search for a new CEO will begin once Mr. Trost's consulting agreement ends.

Nodak Mutual provides commercial and personal p-c insurance, such as auto, homeowners, crop and farmowners. Farm Bureau Mutual offers farmowners, commercial liability, crop and workers' compensation insurance, as well as life insurance products.
