Gallagher Acquires Health Care Insurers Inc.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
First organized in 1987, Health Care Insurers is a managing general agency and wholesale insurance broker that provides professional liability insurance products and services for independent insurance agents and brokers. Employing 27 people, the MGA specializes in the placement of medical malpractice insurance for hospitals, medical facilities, physicians and physician groups.
Richard Greenwood, Boyd Wolf, Bruce Geer, the firm's principals, and their associates will continue to operate in their Colorado Springs and Tampa, Fla., locations under the direction of Joel Cavaness, president of Risk Placement Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Gallagher, the Itasca, Ill.-based insurance broker said.
