Mumenthaler Named Swiss Re's Next CRO

Mr. Mumenthaler will succeed Bruno Porro, who will retire at the end of 2004.
The Zurich, Switzerland-based reinsurer said Mr. Mumenthaler in his new role will be in charge of Swiss Re's Risk & Knowledge Division, which includes the company's risk, claims, reinsurance liabilities and knowledge management.
Mr. Mumenthaler will also become a member of the executive board and the executive board committee of the Swiss Re Group, reporting to Swiss Re's chief executive, John Coomber.
Mr. Mumenthaler first joined Swiss Re in 1999 as manager in the company's strategic planning unit.
Swiss Re also announced that Charlotte Gubler will be the next head of communication & human resources, succeeding Walter Anderau in that role. Ms. Gubler's new responsibilities will include overseeing Swiss Re's overall communication function, global human resources and a number of corporate support functions. Ms. Gubler will also become a member of the executive board of Swiss Re.
Ms. Gubler first joined Swiss Re in 1993 as senior credit risk manager, and in 2000 she became an executive team member of Swiss Re's Financial Services Business Group and head of Credit Solutions.
