RIMS, Marsh Team To Offer Crisis Management Classes
NU Online News Service, March 2, 1:48 p.m. EST
According to the New York-based RIMS, emergency planning, crisis communications, humanitarian assistance, security and other courses will be available through the RIMS Web site. RIMS members will receive discounts on these courses and credit toward the RIMS Fellow designation and the RIMS Certificate.
"RIMS is responding to their members' pleas to find a way to maintain the quality of the RIMS Fellow, but with more flexibility in the course structure," said Deborah Luthi, RIMS vice president of professional development and director of risk management at the University of California, Davis.
By working online, she said, professionals can improve and expand their careers through continuing education "without interfering with the demands their present career requires. Time is managed by the participant, while RIMS can ensure the quality of the course by working with Marsh."
Marsh's Crisis Academy offers convenient, cost-effective education and training curriculum in best practices to the growing number of risk professionals around the world who are responsible for preventing, preparing, responding and recovering from a wide range of risks, including financial, strategic, operational and hazard risks, RIMS said.
