PIANY Past-Pres. Barry, 80, Dies

NU Online News Service, Feb. 24, 11:29 a.m. EST?Edward J. Barry, 80, a past-president of the Glenmont, N.Y.-based Professional Insurance Agents of New York, died Wednesday, in Bedford Village, N.Y.[@@]

A World War II veteran, he was the owner of F.E.W. Inc., an insurance agency in White Plains, N.Y. He served as president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York from 1976 to 1977, and remained an active past-president. He also served as treasure, vice president and first vice president of the association.

Mr. Barry was named committee chairman of the year in 1972 and received the PIANY Distinguished Insurance Service Award in 2002. He was an active member of PIANY for 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters, two son-in-laws and three grandchildren.
