Final Vote Numbers On PCI Merger

NU Online News Service, Jan. 12, 10:40 a.m. EST?The newly formed Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) said the final tally of votes showed only three votes cast against the merger of the Alliance of American Insurers and the National Association of Independent Insurers.[@@]
The new association, based in Des Plaines, Ill., said the vote was 634 in favor and three against.
The NAII reported 560 in favor of the merger and two against. The Alliance reported 74 in favor and one opposed.
Roger Morris, vice president of state media relations for PCI, said while the Alliance had over 340 member companies, the members voted by groups which represent several companies, accounting for the tally of votes.
