Baseball & Insurance Revisited

Michael McCracken’s Dec. 2, 2002, “Another Perspective” column challenging McCarran-Ferguson protection for insurers (“Baseball & Insurance: Two Places Where Economic Idiocy Still Reigns,” page 33) was a great article!

To The Editor:

I don’t care about baseball’s millionaires’ antitrust status. It’s obviously unjustified. McCarran-Ferguson is probably also unjustifiable. Whether abolishing McCarran-Ferguson would force all of the changes that Mr. McCracken supposes, I doubt. I may be wrong, but I don’t think that McCarran is responsible for all of the problems that he noted.
