AIG Renames Auto Unit
NU Online News Service, March 25, 12:26 p.m. EST?American International Group Inc. said it has changed the name of AIG Specialty Auto to AIG Agency Auto to better communicate its commitment to the independent agency distribution channel.
AIG Agency Auto, a unit of American International Companies, currently provides insurance products covering private passenger automobiles and motorcycles through a network of more than 9,000 agents in 30 states, according to New York City-based AIG.
"This name change will more precisely communicate to independent agents that AIG Agency Auto is their point of contact for a variety of innovative automobile insurance solutions," said Tony Pavia, president at AIG Agency Auto. Mr. Pavia said the new name recognizes the important role that the independent agents have been playing in the unit's remarkable growth.
