VCIA To Offer Terrorism Seminar
NU Online News Service, Feb. 19, 10:14 a.m. EST?The Vermont Captive Insurance Association announced it will be offering a seminar titled "Captives and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002."
The March 20 workshop, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Burlington, Vt., is also available by audio-conference. Those who attend in person are eligible for two CPE credit hours, the association said.
The seminar will explain the Federal Act, including who is required to participate; state and federal compliance obligations imposed on captives under the Act, and state law.
Other course items include material on the potential indemnification by the federal government afforded to captives under the Act and potential assessments which captives may be subject under the Act;
The course will discuss possible nullification by the Act of pre-enactment terrorism exclusions issued by the captive, the parent's insurer or the captive's excess insurer, according to VCIA.
Presenters are Jon Harkavy, vice president and general counsel, Risk Services Inc.; Robert "Skip" Myers Jr., partner, insurance group, Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP; Joel Chansky, consulting actuary, Milliman USA; and Greg Lang, vice president, Munich-American RiskPartners.
