Mazzotta Named OHIC Insurance CEO

NU Online News Service, Feb. 18, 11:03 a.m. EST?OHIC Insurance Company in Columbus, Ohio, has appointed Raymond R. Mazzotta as its new chief executive officer.

Mr. Mazzotta, who joined OHIC almost three years ago, previously held the titles of president and chief operating officer.

Prior to joining OHIC, Mr. Mazzotta was senior vice president of health care at the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company in Novato, Calif., where he had worked for more than 20 years.

"Later this month, OHIC will celebrate its 25th anniversary. I'm looking forward to leading our company into the next quarter-century," Mr. Mazzotta said.

OHIC, the only Ohio-based provider of medical malpractice insurance, currently has more than $270 million in assets and more than $60 million in reserves. It primarily insures small-to-medium-sized hospitals, as well as individual and small physician groups. OHIC primarily operates in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Mr. Mazzotta succeeds Gerald Cassidy, who carried the titles of chairman of the board and CEO. Mr. Cassidy relinquished the title of CEO, but remains chairman of the OHIC board.
