Kennedy Named Ohio Mutual CEO
NU Online News Service, Feb. 19, 2:19 p.m. EST?The Ohio Mutual Insurance Group in Bucyrus, Ohio, has appointed James J. Kennedy as its new chief executive officer.
His appointment ends a nationwide search underway since last October, noted William Booher, who served as the company's interim CEO from November 2001 until last week.
Mr. Booher stepped in when CEO Kevin A. Binau began undergoing a cancer treatment. Mr. Binau died last March.
Mr. Booher, who has now been named the company's president, said Mr. Kennedy "is someone who can move our company forward, while understanding and appreciating who we are and where we have come from."
Mr. Kennedy most recently served as vice president of the Preston Insurance Agency in Warwick, R.I. Previously, Mr. Kennedy worked for GRE Insurance Group as senior vice president and at the Shelby Insurance Company as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
The job placement firm used to find Mr. Kennedy was Jacobson Executive Search with headquarters in Chicago.
Ohio Mutual Insurance Group currently writes over $105 million in premiums each year and has over $65 million in surplus.
