No Foolin
Loved the fake article in the April issue (Crystal ball for catastrophes). Despite the ludicrousness of a claim to predicting disasters, the article almost fooled meuntil the line 600 petaflops came up. I know that researchers just recently developed a one-teraflop supercomputer. So it would take 600,000 supercomputers to give the degree of processing power that this article says is just working on flash-flood equations.
Since each one of these supercomputers would be outrageously expensive and take up a large room, the idea of 600,000 of these supercomputers merely existing, let alone being used by the same company in six datacenters, is absolutely absurd.
A rather good joke, I must say. Well done.

On Time? Online?
I was reading your April magazine and decided to reference an article to a collegue so I went to your Web site. Imagine my surprise to see March as the latest edition on your site. I always thought that the Internet was for speed. I guess you didnt read the same articles I did.

Weve always put each issue online on the 15th of its monththe April issue went online mid-April.
Until this March, we reached subscribers mailboxes in the first week of the month, so there was only a one-week lag before it went online. But now we come out about 10 days earlier, so theres a bigger gap before it goes on the site.
Our subscribers are important to us, and we want them to see a clear value to the printed product above whats on the Web site. Putting the paper version out first is one way we do that.
