J. Stephen Beckman came out of retirement to take over as interim CEO of Security American Financial Enterprises, following the resignation of president and chief executive officer Susan J. Albrecht on Jan. 11. Albrecht resigned to take a senior position with anotherunnamedinsurance company.
The St. Paul Companies announced 48-year-old Andy Bessette was named senior vice president and chief administrative officer.
Gary Breitbart has become president and CEO of Prudential Financials Prudential WorkingSolutions, a voluntary-benefits portal, where he will worry about the units sales, customer relationship development, product management, and day-to-day operations. To make sure hes busy, Breitbard will also retain his current responsibilities for Prudential Financials institutional and employee benefits operations as chief strategist and marketing officer.
Zurich Global Energy appointed David Fazan vice president and casualty manager of its London branch. Technology Decisions has learned that he will be reporting to senior vice president Derek Ratteray.
Conseco announced that it has combined its Indianapolis-based insurance operations, and named Liz Georgakopoulos to head the unit. This part of Consecos insurance operations had been organized as three separate units.
Frank Glassner was named CEO of the Compensation Design Group, an international compensation and benefits consulting firm headquartered in New York.
Reinsurance Group of Americas board of directors elected Alan Henderson a director of the board. He succeeds William Stiritz, who served as a board member since the company became public in 1993.
Pacific Life appointed James T. Morris executive vice president of the life insurance division, succeeding Lynn C. Miller; Miller will continue in a corporate function until his retirement on June 30.
The board of directors of Reinsurance Group of America elected Stewart G. Naglercurrently vice chairman of the board and CFO of MetLifeas chairman of the board.
American Re Corporation announced that Edward J. Noonan has resigned as president and CEO effective March 31, after 18 years with the company. He will be succeeded by John P. Phelan, currently president of Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada, which, like American Re, is a member of the Munich Re Group.
Hector R. Ortino has been elected a director of the New York Life Insurance Company, making him the 15th member of the board.
Dennis Reding, president of Bermuda-based ACE INA Holdings and president and CEO of ACE USA, has resigned from the company.
In other news, Aon Corporation named Dennis Reding chief executive officer of Combined Specialty Corporation.
After giving the past 17 years of his life to the company, Carl S. Thigpen has been named senior vice president and chief mortgage and real estate officer of Protective Life Corporation and its principal subsidiaries.
