Chubb Launches Personal Web Site

NU Online News Service, May 7, 1:03 p.m. EST?The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies announced today the launch of www.chubb.com/personal, a new Web site source for both personal insurance customers and agents.

Two key features of the new site, the company said, are its co-branding opportunities for agents and Masterpiece Manager, an online collection management system that helps customers keep detailed records of their valuable possessions.

Chubb said its personal insurance site also allows customers to register and log-on to pay bills, view billing information, check the status of a claim, access policy information and view recent home appraisal reports.

Agents can register and log-on to the site to access client policy, claim, billing and appraisal information, and download current Masterpiece coverage summary and rate and rule manuals and contract guides through Chubb's secure @chubb extranet site, according to Chubb.

The revised site, with more content and graphics, was developed "to enhance our ability to service and communicate with customers, agents and brokers electronically," said Christopher Ritterson, vice president, Chubb & Son, and strategic development manager for Chubb Personal Insurance.

Mr. Ritterson said the site "is designed to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Internet by providing extensive online services around the clock."

The site also offers agents an opportunity to co-brand with Chubb, the company said. The agency's logo and contact information may appear on the customer's main policy information screen. The agency's contact information may also appear on all other policy information, billing, appraisal and claim screens.

"Our independent agents are critical to the success of Chubb Personal Insurance, and we are continually looking for new ways to forge closer partnerships," Mr. Ritterson said. "By allowing agents an opportunity to co-brand on the Chubb Personal Insurance site, we have found a new way to leverage the power of the Internet and further strengthen that partnership."

Chubb said its customers with Valuable Articles Coverage will now have access, at no cost, to Masterpiece Manager. This online system helps personal insurance customers document their collections?from stamps to wine, to jewelry and fine art. Customers may input information on both insured and noninsured items.

Once the information is stored, the company said, customers can use Masterpiece Manager to find items meeting specific criteria, such as location and value, and create detailed reports. Customers can opt to give their insurance agents access to their Masterpiece Manager account to assist with maintenance of their collection information.

Collectors with sophisticated needs can take advantage of an enhanced version called Masterpiece Manager Pro. This system is for collectors with more than 100 items in multiple locations who require more detailed search functions and report capabilities and the ability to track items on loan, according to Chubb.
