Acordia Names New COO

NU Online News Service, April 4, 1:34 p.m. EST?Insurance broker Acordia said Kevin W. Conboy will take the position held by Robert C. Kent, who is retiring as vice president and chief operating officer.

Mr. Conboy was serving as senior vice president and regional managing director for the Chicago-based firm's East region.

Mr. Kent will continue to consult with senior managers on operating matters until the transition is complete, Acordia said in a statement.

Mr. Conboy joined Acordia in 1993 with the acquisition by the firm of American Business Insurance. He is a board member of the Washington, D.C.?based Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers

As chief operating officer, Mr. Conboy will be responsible for field operations, regional reporting and business operating results. His appointment as executive vice president will await election to the board of directors.

Kevin Kenny will replace Mr. Conboy in the East region insurance operation as senior vice president.

A spokeswoman for the firm said the transition is expected to be completed sometime in early May.
