PRIMA Elects President

NU Online News Service, March 18, 3:28 p.m. EST?The Public Risk Management Association announced today that it has named a new president for 2002-2003.

Tracy L. Dahl-Webb, a risk manager for the city of Brookings, S.D., has been elected president of the association. She will take office in May at PRIMA's annual convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Arlington, Virginia-based PRIMA members also voted Bill Kostner of Lincoln, Neb., as Region III representative and James Huckaby of Mesquite, Texas, as Region VI representative. In addition, Cindy Davis has been named acting Region II vice president, James R. Hirt, the association's executive director said.

"It is an honor to be elected president of PRIMA at a time when we have reached such an important crossroads in our profession," Ms. Dahl-Webb said. "My goal is to ensure that PRIMA is at the forefront of education, information and policymaking."

In her current position for nine years, Ms. Dahl-Webb has held a dual role as the city of Brookings director of risk management and human resources. She has also served on the South Dakota Retirement System Board of Trustees representing municipal employees within the state of South Dakota.

Ms. Dahl-Webb has been actively involved in the formation and growth of the Iowa-Nebraska-South Dakota chapter, and received the PRIMA Chapter Service Award for outstanding service to the chapter at the 2000 Annual Conference.

At the national level, she has served as Vice President of Region III since 1999 and has worked on various committees during her tenure, including serving as the conference planning committee chair for the 2002 San Antonio conference.

PRIMA is an organization of more than 2,000 members. Its mission is to provide public risk managers with the tools to effectively manage risk exposures facing public entities.
