Online Operation Figures Injury Worth

By Daniel Hays

NU Online News Service, March 14, 1:29 p.m. EST?A Web site operation that helps claimants calculate how much a slip-and-fall or auto injury should be settled for is expanding to provide the same service to insurers, the company said today.

Condico of Irvine, Calif. said it is now online with ClaimAnalyst which "points toward the institutional user," according to Barry Moore, president and chief executive officer of Condico.

Mr. Moore said the ClaimAnalyst system is an enhanced version of its SettleBest online calculator, which lets users fill in a series of question and then generates a report for $24. They system has been used by individual plaintiffs and "has been accessed quite a bit by personal injury attorneys," according to Mr. Moore.

He said ClaimAnalyst is being tested by a number of insurance companies and "I think it fits nicely with what third party administrators are doing as well as any company with a large number of slip and fall claims. I see a lot of application for insurance and risk type operations."

His announcement of the system said ClaimAnalyst calculates values in real time, providing access to data for claim duration and discount calculations.

The ClaimAnalyst is a Web-based application that is available through licensed use.

The system uses advanced predictive technology that accurately models thousands of injury claims and settlements to calculate injury values.

Mr. Moore said it only applies to mild to moderate injuries. If someone were to check off a more serious hurt, such as a closed head injury, for example, they would be informed that the injury was not appropriate for the system, Mr. Moore said.

Users are asked for data concerning the state and population of the community where the accident occurred. They are also asked for the age, gender and marital status of the injured person as well as extent of disability and what category the injury fit into--lacerations and contusions, sprains strains, spasms, fractures or disc injury.

After completing the questions, ClaimAnalyst calculates a settlement range and the Most Likely Settlement Value within the highest levels of confidence.

A report is then generated that summarizes the information.

Mr. Moore said he believes his system "to be the fastest, most accurate and user-friendly injury valuation software available on the market today.'' ClaimAnalyst may be used on a stand-alone basis or integrated into a customer's claims management system.

Condico said it is ready to customize predictive models for an individual company based on their own claims data.

ClaimAnalyst's Web site is www.ClaimAnalyst.com. Condico is online at www.condico.com.
