RMS Announces Client Conference
NU Online News Service, Feb. 5, 3:57 p.m. EST?Risk Management Solutions, a provider of products and services for catastrophe, weather, and enterprise risk management, said its annual client conference will be held March 11-14 in San Francisco, at the Westin St. Francis Hotel.
The conference for catastrophe risk management professionals will focus on "Risk Management In Practice," the company said.
RMS said the conference aim is to provide attendees with the technical knowledge and practical insight central to their use of RMS catastrophe models.
The 2002 conference will offer over 35 sessions, including an industry keynote address by analyst V.J. Dowling focusing on market implications following the World Trade Center disaster.
Also, Dr. Mary Lou Zoback, chief scientist of the U.S. Geological Survey's earthquake hazards team, will present a science keynote address focusing on the latest developments in seismic research.
Participants may choose to attend session in four different tracks, based on their area of interest:
? ? "Peril Modeling" sessions will discuss the technical details of models that are being upgraded or newly released, including advance information on changes to the company's U.S. Hurricane and Western U.S. Earthquake models
? "Risk Management" presentations will assist catastrophe managers in framing their approaches to risk management. Some sessions will discuss issues that have emerged in the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster and capital management decisions that are made with input from catastrophe models
?? "Implementation" sessions will address the implementation of RMS software
? "Fundamentals," the final track, provides a road map for clients who are new to catastrophe modeling, as well as those who want more user-oriented guidance on applying RMS software
