Reinsurer Confab To Hear WTC Building Issues
NU Online News Service, Feb. 11, 3:12 p.m. EST?The Intermediaries and Reinsurance Underwriters Association Spring Conference will focus on the impact of the Sept. 11 terrorism attacks on the insurance and reinsurance industry, the group announced.
IRU said it will convene March 11 in Las Vegas for a meeting of senior executives from major brokerage firms and reinsurance markets.
The group said it will discuss the impact of the terrorist destruction of the World Trade Center in the context of their assessment and outlook for the insurance and reinsurance industry.
A discussion of the broader engineering and building construction issues relating to property-casualty and worker's compensation risks will be provided by William Faschan, a partner with Leslie Robertson Associates, the structural engineering consultants for the World Trade Center, IRU said.
An industry perspective will also be provided by Robert P. Hartwig, senior vice president and chief economist at the Insurance Information Institute in New York, IRU announced. The association said a prominent Wall Street analyst will speak as well.
