ACE Claims Pro Of Year Named
The ACE Claims Professional of the Year award was presented last week to Don Deckert of the Wichita-based Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
Mr. Deckert, who was recently promoted to bodily injury specialist at Farm Bureau, was recognized for his “outstanding achievements during his five-year career in claims adjustment,” according to Phil Schreiner, editor of Claims magazine, a National Underwriter Company publication.
The award was presented in Tampa last week during the 5th Annual ACE Conference & Exhibition, run by Claims and Erlanger, Ky.-based NUCO.
Prior to joining Farm Bureau, Mr. Deckert was with the Wichita Police Department, retiring in the early 1990s after 22 years. He was honored with two Bronze Wreaths of Meritorious Service, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Advanced Leadership Award.
Mr. Deckert joined Farm Bureau in 1996 and quickly rose through the ranks as claims adjuster I, II, senior adjuster and, most recently, to bodily injury specialist. This past July, he received the Associate in Claims Certificate from the Insurance Institute of America. At Farm Bureau, he has been twice recognized with the Top Audit Award (Claims Representative II), and twice was named to the Audit All Star Team.
Mr. Deckert is actively involved with both the Kansas Claims Association and the South Central Regional section. In 2000, he was given the “Wayne Trexler Award” in recognition of outstanding customer service.
