Ruth Goodwin Picked As CSR Of The Year
NU Online News Service, Aug. 1, 10:16 a.m. EST-A key industry award for insurance customer service representation has gone to Ruth E. Goodwin of the Davis Insurance Agency in Ludlow, Vt.
Ms. Goodwin, it was announced today, has been selected as the winner of the "2001 National Outstanding CSR of the Year Award" by the Austin, Texas-based Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.
Ms. Goodwin, who receives $1,000 and a gold and diamond lapel pin with the award, was selected from a field of 36 state winners. Her employer receives a scholarship.
A four-judge blue-ribbon panel that included National Underwriter Editor-In-Chief Sam Friedman picked Ms. Goodwin from a group of five finalists.
Award candidates were judged on their individual contributions to the insurance community and their essays on the topic, "My Greatest Accomplishment as a CSR."
Ms. Goodwin is a commercial lines CSR and claims coordinator who has been in the insurance business nearly 20 years. She earned a Certified Insurance Service Representative designation in 1991.
Ms. Goodwin is Vermont membership chair for the National Association of Insurance Women and a past chapter president. William T. Hold, the Society of CISR's chief executive officer, said Ms. Goodwin showed excellent communication skills and willingness to go the extra mile for a client.
