Online connectivity ASP iComp Health Management (www.icomphm.com), which caters to parties on the medical side of workers' comp claims, launched iComp Connected Care System (iCCS)-a browser-based solution that links healthcare providers, claims adjusters, insurers, and insureds.
If an employee gets hurt on the job, wouldn't you want her back as soon as possible? Sure, if her cranium's been split wide open it might not be as speedy, but iComp says its solution does light a fire under the rear end of the guy who green-lights the care needed to get her back to work. It does so through iComp's partnership with NIIT (www.niitusa.com), an IT solutions company. NIIT stepped in to help develop iCCS's back-end database that allows all parties access to real-time data over the Web.
"The iCCS will have a significant impact on the timeliness and quality of medical care provided, resulting in improved care for the injured worker and substantially quicker return-to-work programs with their attendant savings in costs," said iComp president and CEO Tom Hall.
With its return-to-work function, iCCS gives everyone involved with the claim access to tabular data, photos, and the physical requirements of the injured's job (e.g., heavy lifting, paper pushing). Doctors can enter physical restrictions for the worker into the system, and then perform a search through the job database for a position that meets those restrictions, or determine whether the employee's job description can be tweaked to ensure the restrictions are met.
