The MIB Group (www.mib.com), known as a repository for medical and anti-fraud information, is making its fraud protection service available to companies in the health insurance field.

“MIB was established as an association of life insurance companies,” said Fred Pritkin, vice president and chief marketing officer of MIB's e-Services Corp. “The information in our databases alerts them to possible omissions or misrepresentations on the application. We realized that the same kind of service could benefit the health insurance industry.”

Apparently, some current members that also underwrite major medical coverage policies were already benefiting from MIB's fraud prevention service. “Some member companies have refocused their underwriting from life insurance to health insurance,” Pritkin said. “It was actually their experience that showed us how MIB could be of service to the health insurance industry as a whole.”
