Though divided, on April 23, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) finalized a rule that prohibits employers from making their workers sign noncompete agreements. Not everyone is on board with this regulation, however, and global tax services provider Ryan has already filed suit in a Texas federal court claiming this action exceeds the FTC's statutory authority.
