BOSTON— State Auto Chairman and CEO Robert P. Restrepo has been elected Board Chair of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America.

PCI elected new officers here during its annual meeting. Erie Insurance Group President and CEO Terrence W. Cavanaugh was elected first vice chair. GuideOne President and CEO Jim Wallace was given the nod as second vice chair.

“In every state capital, in Washington, D.C., and even overseas, property casualty insurers face regulatory overreach, shifting dynamics as a result of recent major natural disasters, uncertainty about the future of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, as well as a fragile economic recovery and political volatility,” said David A. Sampson, President and CEO of PCI, in a statement. “But PCI is fortunate to draw upon the experience and expertise of our newly elected board leadership as we work to prevail over current and emerging threats to a healthy, competitive private insurance market.”

Restrepo has been chairman and CEO of State Auto since February 2006, and was appointed president of the company a month later. He also serves on the board of the Insurance Information Institute as well as local boards in Columbus, Ohio, where State Auto was founded in 1921.

Cavanaugh started with Erie in 2008 after 33 years with Chubb Group. He also serves on the Board of Governors for PCI and on the boards of the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America.

Wallace joined GuideOne in 2001 after being president and CEP of National Travelers Life Co. He is also Chairman of the Des Moines Partnership and is involved on several community boards in Des Moines, Iowa, where GuideOne is headquartered.
