Christopher A. Brassard was named the new chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York, Inc.

He was named to the one-year term during the association's 129th Annual Business Meeting, held on May 12.

Brassard is executive vice president and director of Ten Eyck Group, an Albany, N.Y. insurance agency.

The association also named:

• John R. Costello, first vice president of First Niagara Risk Management in Rochester, to a three-year term as state national director, representing the association on the national board of directors of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.

• Thomas J. Crowley, a partner in Maran Corporate Risk Associates in Southampton, New York was named chairman-elect.

• Andrew J. Kaufman, president and a partner of Aurora Incorporated Insurance Agency in Albany was named secretary-treasurer.
