The Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance published a bulletin announcing the 2027 workers' compensation rates for employers.

The proposed average loss cost changes by industry are as follows:

  • Manufacturing: +1.2%
  • Contracting: -2.0%
  • Office and Clerical: -1.2%
  • Goods and Services: -0.2%
  • Miscellaneous: +1.3%

The department notes that claim frequency has declined, but Missouri ranks higher in attorney involvement compared to neighboring states and the country. In 2025, 35.2% of lost-time claims involved an attorney, compared to 26.5% in neighboring states, and 22.3% nationally.
