The Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) published a bulletin providing advance notice to insurers of the claims reporting requirements for data calls during the 2025 hurricane season. If a data call is deemed necessary, insurers should have certain claims data readily available.
For any named storm that requires a data call, the LDI will issue a bulletin providing the specific data call requirements. The bulletin will include a reporting schedule with set timelines and due dates. A spreadsheet template will also be provided on LDI’s website. A sample spreadsheet can be found for reference in the attached bulletin.
When a data call is issued, all insurers must respond and complete the Excel spreadsheet. Only claims related to the corresponding named storm or hurricane for policies in Louisiana should be included. If an insurer has no relevant claims to report, it should submit a report indicating zero claims.
The bulletin applies to all P&C insurers, including those writing private flood insurance and surplus lines insurers. It does not apply to life or health, mono-line financial guaranty, mortgage guaranty, title, fidelity and surety, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, professional liability insurers, or reinsurers.
Data reported to LDI will be kept confidential, but can be used as part of an aggregate for public reporting purposes.
The bulletin can be found here.
