Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis published a press release announcing an important update on the My Safe Florida Home program.

The program provides grants of up to $10,000 to eligible residents to strengthen their homes against hurricanes and storms, and as a result, reduces insurance costs for the homeowner. The applicant must fill out a survey and complete a free home inspection to be considered for a grant.

CFO Patronis wants to inform applicants that they are required to provide age and income information on the program questionnaire. The initial grants provided by the program will prioritize senior citizens and low-income residents. There are around 30,000 inspected properties where the applicant did not provide age and income information. These applicants will not be considered for a grant if they do not provide that information.
