A woman is facing a felony charge for filing a false insurance claim - she failed to appear at her arraignment. The woman caused a three-car accident, and made a claim with her insurance company for the damages 10 days after the policy was put in force. She claimed the accident occurred 30 minutes after she started the policy. In actuality, the accident had occurred an hour before the woman took out the policy. The insurer discovered this when investigating the claim and denied payment, and then referred the woman to the Criminal Investigations Unit, as required.
