The insured tipped a truck/tractor and tank trailer. Tow bill was $16,000. Adjuster advises there is only $600 in towing coverage which is what there is for towing and labor if that is what we were submitting. However, in my 54 years in the business once the collision loss occurred the towing bill becomes a part of the loss itself and should be paid in full. Not as a "towing & labor" item. Looking for wording that substantiates the "loss" includes expenses associated with the actual loss i.e. In this case two large commercial wreckers had to come 120 miles from Williston, N.D. to handle the case.

This is apparently not a standard business auto policy, since in the ISO BAP towing coverage is only available for private passenger vehicles, light and medium trucks.
That being said, if the towing and labor are costs due to a covered accident, and the insured has purchased comprehensive coverage, the towing and labor are part of the "loss" and should be covered as such. Towing and labor, sometimes referred to as roadside assistance, is a separate optional coverage for vehicle disablement from causes that would not otherwise be covered.
