The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services has issued a list of municipalities participating in the Auto Insurance Fire Loss Program. The program requires auto insurers to require insureds to complete and submit a report for a fire or explosion loss to an insured vehicle that may not have been accidental and that occurred within a municipality participating in the program. The state fire marshal prescribes the form to be completed, which is required before the payment of a claim of $2,000 or more. A copy of the bulletin and list of participating municipalities is available here.
