Fraud of the WeekAuto and Property Damage - CaliforniaAmount - $75,000+

Three people were arrested for posing as an attorney and legal associates in order to file false insurance claims for bodily injury after auto accidents and for property damage related to wildfires. A complaint was filed against one of the men for practicing law without a license. The man misrepresented himself as an attorney to clients and insurance companies through advertising various legal services. The three submitted claims for and demand packages for claimants; many of the documents were discovered to be fraudulent or contain forged signatures. The group collected $75,460. The group hired licensed attorneys to make court appearances or work on drafts, and these attorneys were under the impression that other attorneys were the attorney of record on the cases. They were unaware that their identities were being used by the three without their knowledge or consent.
