The Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) published a bulletin announcing a data call to gather policy information from the 2024 hurricane season. The LDI requires all P&C insurers, including surplus lines insurers, to complete both the homeowners insurance data calls and the commercial lines property insurance data calls found at the Industry Access Portal by August 15, 2024. The portal and workbooks will be available by July 30, 2024. 

July 30 update: the deadline for completing the data call found in the Industry Access Portal has been extended to August 30, 2024.

Insurers are asked to submit information on the homeowners and commercial lines property policies active during the months of June and July 2024. Data on personal lines and commercial lines property policies should be filed separately. The following information must be submitted:

  • Total number of policies in force
  • Total number of policies canceled
  • Total number of policies nonrenewed
  • Number of policies canceled due to hurricane risk
  • Number of policies nonrenewed due to hurricane risk
  • Total dollar value of structure and contents exposure under policies that include wind coverage
  • Number of policies that exclude wind coverage
  • Number of open property damage claims
  • Number of closed property damage claims
  • Number of pending property damage claims The above items should include the complete physical address including zip code, parish, policy number, policy expiration date, and the structure and contents coverage amount for each policy
  • Number of opened or closed property damage claims where either the insurer or the insured sought a form of alternative dispute resolution and what form of resolution was used

Responses will be kept confidential and will be exempt from public disclosure, following Louisiana law.
