The Alabama Department of Insurance published a bulletin announcing a data call on Hurricane Sally, which made landfall in the state in September 2020. The data call will help the Department evaluate the effectiveness of loss mitigation features during Hurricane Sally compared to the benchmark FORTIFIED mitigation features. Responses to the data call are due by August 23, 2024.

Insurers who provided residential property coverage for properties located south of Interstate 10 on September 16, 2020, must respond to the data call. They are asked to provide claims and underwriting data from the policy in force on September 16, 2020, in the provided spreadsheet template. The spreadsheet can be found here (note that this link will automatically download an Excel file).

The spreadsheet asks, for each house insured for hurricane wind coverage on September 16, 2020, south of I-10 in Alabama, for the following items: company name; NAIC company code; eligibility; location address; latitude and longitude; policy form; annual premium; replacement cost; coverages A through D limits; hurricane deductible; AOP deductible; year built; building code; construction; year roofed; roof material; roof shape; square feet; stories; claims paid for coverages A through D and Ordinance or Law due to Hurricane Sally; and treefall claims.
