A pipe burst in our insured home caused water damage. The water damage was 6 inches of water in the basement. The burst pipe was due to wear and tear. The water damage to the home is not the issue (ensuing damage). The burst pipe leaked so much water that the well went dry. Her contractor advises that a new well needs to be dug . Is there coverage for a new well?

You have a unique situation. While water itself is excluded, that is not exactly your issue. Likewise, the exclusion for the system or appliance from which the water escaped doesn't apply either since the cause of loss was related to a ruptured pipe that kept dispensing water from the well, and not any malfunction of the well itself. How long did the water run in order for the well to run dry? Depending on details, if the insured didn't take all means to stop the flow of water the exclusion for Neglect to use all reasonable means to save and preserve property at the time of loss could be invoked. Otherwise, we do not see an exclusion that would preclude coverage for the well.
