United Home Insurance Company has been operating in Arkansas for over 100 years. However, due to recent substantial weather-related losses, they have suffered a decline in their financial condition. When an insurance company becomes impaired, insolvent, is in unsound condition, or the furtherance of its business would present a danger to its policyholders, it can be placed in receivership.

The Pulaski County Circuit Court in Arkansas placed United Home Insurance Company in receivership on September 6, 2023. In an effort to rehabilitate the company, the Court has appointed Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Alan McClain and his office as the Receiver. McClain will take possession of United Home's property, continue operations, attempt to correct existing problems, and develop a plan to rehabilitate the company. The commissioner can appoint others to assist in the rehabilitation process. If rehabilitation is determined to not be viable, the commissioner will ask the Court for an order of liquidation.

McClain has stated that the goal behind the receivership is to make sure that the company's policyholders with outstanding claims get the money they need and deserve. Policyholders will still have their policies in effect, assuming they are paying premiums when due, and can still file claims.
